Pinata’s are great fun to bash, but can also be fun to make too! To make your own all you need is: Largeish paper lunch bag Newspaper Sweets Coloured tissue paper String Glue Scissors Hole Punch Start by putting some of the sweets into the bag; next put a layer of newspaper, then some more sweets, followed by newspaper and so on until the bag is about 1 inch away from being full. Next, cut the tissue paper into strips. Cut slits around the bottom of each strip of tissue paper. Glue the strips around the bag, starting at the bottom, only glue along the top of each strip, and overlap each strip to create a layered look. Leave the top inch of the bag without any tissue. Punch holes at 2cm intervals all around the top of the bag. Now, weave the string in and out of the holes, then pull the string tight so the top of the bag gathers (you may need to take some of the newspaper out or add some at this point to ensure the bag does up). Then tie a loop in the string so that you can hang it up. Lastly cut some more strips of tissue paper to stick around the bottom of the bag as streamers. Your Pinata is ready to be bashed! You can make bigger versions of this, or smaller ones, which can be turned into a party craft activity that each child can take home, or used later during the party as a game.
