Babies love to feel different textures, and a collection of fabric swatches is a great way to help develop his their sense of touch. Gather a range of fabrics, from leather to silk to faux fur, and put them in a pile on the floor. Pick them up one by one and run them through your baby’s hands, letting them tug and pet each one as they see fit. Talk to them about what they’re feeling. As they get older, they’ll be better able to grasp each item on their own. Because these materials are not tested to be put in babies’ mouths stay with your baby while they play to stop them tasting them. Although we would still recommend any swatches you use are clean and big enough not to present a choking hazard.
