A very young baby lying on his/her back will enjoy watching very light pieces of fabric (chiffon, tissues, etc) falling down towards him/her. Scrunch up the material and throw it upwards over the baby and the baby watches it come down on top of them. Following moving objects is an ability that is developed very early. This game encourages children to follow objects with their eyes and reach for them with their hands which develops hand-eye coordination. Talking to the child – naming the colour, exploring the texture with them will also stimulate the child’s language development. Use different colours and textures to make it more interesting.
