This game is great fun to play for adults and children in any fairly large open outdoor space. Somebody is chosen to bat first, using either a cricket bat or a tennis bat, which they must use to protect their legs, below the knee. Whoever is bowling bowls with the aim of hitting the batsman below knees. If possible, the batsman should hit the ball as far away from themselves as possible (with just one hit of the ball). But, if the ball is caught without bouncing they are out and the person who catches the ball is the batsman. If the batsman is not caught out, or misses the ball, whoever gets to the ball first must bowl from wherever they retrieve the ball from. The batsman is not allowed to move their body to face the direction that the ball is being bowled from and is not allowed to move their feet at any time, but they can move the bat around their body to protect their lower legs. Whoever hits the batsman’s lower legs first takes the place as the next batsman.
